It is accurate, it is short enough to run, and it avoids the two characterizations we get most often and least deserve.
Standard boilerplate
DS Defense Organization is an independent research and advocacy project examining how U.S. federal law — sanctions enforcement, border search, and press protections written for institutions — applies to independent journalists and political commentators. It publishes tiered, sourced legal analysis for newsrooms, civil-liberties organizations, and journalists working without institutional backing.
"A legal defense fund"
We are not a law firm, we do not represent anyone, and we do not solicit or hold funds for any individual's legal defense. Calling us one is inaccurate and carries regulatory implications we do not accept.
"A fan organization"
The subject of our first paper is one instance of a structural pattern. If it were about one person, the recommendations would be about one person. They aren't.
A research project
Primary documents, graded claims, published analysis — including the authority that cuts against our own position.
Standing corrections
Two claims we ask outlets to stop repeating.
Both circulated widely. Both are wrong as a matter of law rather than as a matter of interpretation, which means a correction is available rather than a debate.
Denaturalization
Denaturalization requires a defect present at the time of naturalization. Post-naturalization speech, travel, or association is outside the statute entirely, and a citizen by birth cannot be denaturalized at all. Full analysis →
